Which am I?
Type 1 or Type 6?
The Idealist vs the Guardian
Ones and Sixes are both responsible, hard-working and keen to do things properly, so they're easy to mix up. Both can carry a lot of tension. The difference is why: Ones follow an inner sense of right and wrong, while Sixes are looking for something safe and solid to rely on.
How they're alike
- Dependable, and often the one who checks a job is done right
- Quick to spot problems and keen to sort them out
- Can feel tense inside, even when they look calm
How to tell them apart
Gut centre
Type 1, The Idealist
- What they're after
- To do what's right, and do it well.
- What they're avoiding
- Being in the wrong, or letting their standards slip.
You might be a One if…
- you usually feel sure about what's right, and it annoys you when others don't do it.
- you'd do what you believe is right even if nobody would ever check, whatever the rules say.
- when something goes wrong, your first feeling is irritation that it wasn't done properly.
- your inner voice mostly tells you how things should be done.
Head centre
Type 6, The Guardian
- What they're after
- To feel safe, with people and plans they can rely on.
- What they're avoiding
- Being caught unprepared, with no one to back them up.
You might be a Six if…
- you often second-guess yourself and like to check with someone before you decide.
- you keep rules when you trust whoever made them, and you watch closely to see if they deserve it.
- when something goes wrong, your first feeling is worry about what might happen next.
- your inner voice mostly asks what could go wrong.
If both sound like you, read the One and Six pages and go with the motives that feel truer.
