Which am I?

Type 2 or Type 9?

The Caregiver vs the Mediator

Twos and Nines are both kind, easy to be around and quick to put others first, so they're often confused. Both can lose track of what they want for themselves. But Twos reach out to be close and needed, while Nines go along with others to keep the peace.

How they're alike

  • Warm, supportive and good at putting people at ease
  • Often put other people's wishes ahead of their own
  • Find it hard to say no

How to tell them apart

What they're after
To be close to people and feel needed by them.
What they're avoiding
Being left out, or no longer needed.

You might be a Two if…

  • you go out of your way to help, and you hope people notice.
  • when your help goes unthanked, it stings, and sooner or later you may say so.
  • you know how your friends are feeling, and you act on it straight away.
  • you feel most alive when someone needs you.
What they're after
To feel calm inside and keep the peace around them.
What they're avoiding
Arguments and upsets that pull people apart.

You might be a Nine if…

  • you're happy to help, and just as happy to stay in the background.
  • when you're overlooked, you tend to shrug it off and let it go.
  • you can see everyone's point of view but find it hard to say what you want.
  • you feel most at ease when everyone's getting along and life is calm.

If you see yourself in both, read the Two and Nine pages and go with the motives that feel truer.
