Which am I?
Type 4 or Type 9?
The Seeker vs the Mediator
Fours and Nines can both seem gentle, dreamy and a little withdrawn, and both spend a lot of time in their inner world. That makes them easy to confuse. But Fours turn up the volume on their feelings, while Nines tend to turn it down to keep things calm.
How they're alike
- Gentle and imaginative, often with a dreamy side
- Can pull back from the world for a while
- Sensitive to the mood in a room
How to tell them apart
Heart centre
Type 4, The Seeker
- What they're after
- To be truly themselves and live a life full of meaning.
- What they're avoiding
- Going unseen, or losing touch with who they are.
You might be a Four if…
- you'd rather feel something painful than feel nothing at all.
- you often feel different from everyone else.
- when you're hurt, you stay with the feeling and want someone to truly understand it.
- your own story and feelings take up a lot of your attention.
Gut centre
Type 9, The Mediator
- What they're after
- To feel at peace, inside and out.
- What they're avoiding
- Conflict and upheaval that unsettle everyone.
You might be a Nine if…
- you'd rather feel calm than stir up strong feelings.
- you often blend in and go along with the group.
- when you're hurt, you tell yourself it's no big deal and move on.
- you find it easier to think about other people than about yourself.
If both feel familiar, read the Four and Nine pages and go with the motives that feel truer.
