Which am I?
Type 4 or Type 5?
The Seeker vs the Observer
Fours and Fives are both private, thoughtful and a little set apart from the crowd, so they're often mixed up. Both need time alone and have a rich inner world. The difference is that Fours lean into their feelings, while Fives step back from feelings to think things through.
How they're alike
- Need plenty of time on their own
- Often feel different from the people around them
- Prefer depth to small talk

You might be a Four if…
- when you're upset, you feel it fully and want someone to understand.
- you want to be seen for who you really are.
- time alone is for getting closer to your feelings.
- you notice what's missing and long for it.

Type 5, The Observer
- What they're after
- To understand the world and handle life on their own terms.
- What they're avoiding
- Running out of energy, or being caught without the know-how they need.
You might be a Five if…
- when you're upset, you go quiet and try to work out why.
- you mostly want to be left in peace.
- time alone is for recharging and putting your thoughts in order.
- you notice how things work and want to understand them.
If you see yourself in both, read the Four and Five pages and go with the motives that feel truer.
