8w7, The Protector with a Seven wing

How the Seven wing colours the Protector

A Seven wing gives the Eight's strength a sense of adventure. Eights with this wing still want to run their own lives and protect their people, but they also want to enjoy themselves while they do it. They tend to be outgoing, quick-thinking and full of plans, and they bring a lot of energy into a room.

The Seven is a Head type, so this wing adds speed and appetite to the Eight's directness. 8w7s often think big, take risks and enjoy a challenge for its own sake. Their anger tends to flare and pass quickly. The trouble is that their pace can flatten quieter people, and they may chase the next thing instead of stopping to feel what's going on inside.

  • people tell you your energy fills a room.

Strengths and watch-outs

Strengths

  • Confident, generous and full of drive
  • Takes bold action and inspires others to join in
  • Bounces back quickly from setbacks

Watch-outs

  • Can steamroll quieter people without noticing
  • Takes risks that others end up carrying
  • Moves on so fast that feelings never get a look-in

What helps

What tends to help is slowing down enough to notice other people's pace and their own feelings. 8w7s also grow by letting trusted people see their softer side, not just their strength. Like other Eights, they're at their best when that strength goes into caring for others.

8w7 or 8w9?

Next to an 8w9, an 8w7 is louder and more restless. An 8w9 tends to keep their strength in reserve, steady and calm until something needs defending. An 8w7 tends to put their strength to work all the time, chasing goals and new experiences. Both protect their people and say what they think, but the 8w7 is more likely to push, and the 8w9 to stand firm. If your strength comes with a love of excitement, the Seven wing may fit.
